Samurai Cutie Pie...Cool name non!
Today, Samurai Cutie Pie is still a hobby, but one that I am lucky enough to be able to share with others. I still work a full time job, and my house is still (and probably always will be) a disaster, but Samurai Cutie Pie gives me the chance to unwind, and de-stress, and create a product that I hope moms and daughters alike will enjoy wearing as much as I enjoy making. I don’t have the luxury of devoting all of my time to Samurai Cutie Pie, but I do believe that as a result, the time that does go into all of my products is that much more passionate and fun, and if you can see that, then that’s a total bonus. Samurai Cutie Pie will be one year old in April 2011, and I have no intention of stopping now, so to everyone who has and continues to support me - THANK YOU! – and trust me, the best is yet to come!

The Sprogess decided instead of her rattling on and on (on and on - Tina Fey!!! Woooo) why not let Monica, from Samurai Cutie Pie, tell you her story about creating a brand, and working full time, AND being a mom...unless you wanna hear Tina Fey facts...well maybe next time.
From Monica:
I’m sitting here trying to figure out what I can say about Samurai Cutie Pie. The truth is, there’s not much to tell. Like so many other mom’s out there, I just wanted to dress up my little girl – and not dress up as in ruffles and bows, but dress up as in hip and fun and well...unique. Don’t get me wrong, every rugrat is adorable and cute as a button!
I was always about jeans and t-shirts, not dresses and tights, but for my little girl, that usually meant hearing “oh, he’s so cute!”. My Samantha simply didn’t have very much hair, and even if she was dressed in head to toe pink, she’d still get mistaken for a boy. The final straw for Mom was when I took my two kidlets to get their passport photos taken, and the photographer asked “so photos for the two boys?”....and so, Samurai Cutie Pie was born.

I’ve always enjoyed crafts, but that never meant that I was particularly good at one. I’ve always liked messing around with glue and scissors and glitter (always the glitter!), but until now, I’ve never found an activity that didn’t eventually feel like a chore (the kids’ scrapbook is sadly still undone!). Like so many other mom’s, I just started out making what I thought were fun clips for my daughter. It wasn’t until friends started noticing my clips and suggesting that I sell them that I thought this was something I was actually good at.
I often get asked “How did you come up with the name?” My daughter’s name is Samantha. Upon meeting Sam for the first time, her cousin came up with a nickname for her “Samurai Cutie Pie”...how could I not use that as the name for my endeavour? In hindsight, it has become a very fitting name as Sam is my continued inspiration, and my products are for all the cutie pies out there. So, to my nephew Jaden, you were the genius behind the brand – YOU ROCK!
